The rest of the climb to the top of the sixty five foot silver maple was uneventful.I looked down.Yes,I was a long way up.But it did not bother me(anything over fifteen feet would probably kill me,anyway). It was the looking up at the vast emptiness of the endless sky that bothered me.

I have two baby silver maples that I'm trying to decide where to plant!
They won't remain babies for long. Are you sure you want to plant silver maples?Give them plenty of space, and they do well in a wet spot. These things grow,so if you plant it near your house,it will be near your house. With care, and proper maintenance they can be very pretty(if not still messy)trees.
Whoops, I mis-spoke. My baby trees are Silver Birches. How big to they get?
Now,those are beautiful trees.Sometimes very fragile-don't even walk hard around them:-).Not very big at all.Beautiful wonderful trees to have...but I bet you already knew this.
Seeing as the ones I have are really twigs with a few leaves (They came in an envelope with a bunch of other "trees" from the Nature Conservancy. In other words, they sent me a baggie full of sticks! Wasn't that sweet?) no, they're not very big. They're living along with the other trees in containers on my patio until they are big enough to go out in the yard.
The silver birches will probably go near some river birches that I already have established in the back yard.
rivers are hardier, but almost just as pretty. You have a very wise green thumb..they all will do excellent
